Hilton Head Metabolism Diet
The Hilton Head Metabolism Diet is based on Dr. Peter M. Miller's reflections and their subsequent demonstration during studies that a person's metabolism uses up 70 per cent of all the calories consumed in a day and the remaining calories are spent through physical activity. The conclusion is that the problem among the people who are obese is their body's inability to burn calories effectively through metabolism. Metabolism is the result of chemical processes that occur in the cells of living organisms which are essential to maintain life. The processes involve the breaking down of food substances to generate energy necessary for vital operations and creating other substances.
The Hilton Head Metabolism Diet program functions by altering the dieter's body chemistry to burn body fat naturally so that even if the dieter eats five times in a day, the weight would come down. The Hilton Head Metabolism Diet program is in two stages. The first stage consists of six weeks of weight reduction and this has to be followed by weight maintenance diet in the second two-week stage. This cycle is repeated until the weight reaches the required level. This means, six weeks to reduce weight and two weeks to maintain that weight. This dietary 'stairstepping' is repeated as long as necessary.
The weight reduction stage involves eating three meals every day in addition to two snacks with the total coming to about 1,000 calories a day in a meticulously planned Hilton Head Metabolism Diet. Weight loss based on metabolic activity is swift with several 'minimeals' a day than one or two large meals. During weekends, the metabolism can be improved further by adding 200 to 250 calories per day to the Hilton Head Metabolism Diet. The maintenance stage decides calorie intake on individual needs as recommended by the plan.
As far as the Hilton Head Metabolism Diet meal plans are concerned, all portions must be measured and there should be no deviation. Salt is not permitted and multivitamin/mineral and calcium supplements are likely to be permitted. Daily meal plans confine calories from fat to less than 20 per cent of the total and the consumption of fat should not amount to more than 15 to 20 grams. The dieter has to drink a minimum of five 250ml glasses of water. If not water, other non-caloric and non-caffeinated beverages may be preferred. Daily exercise of two 20-minute walks or equivalent sessions is recommended. Otherwise, two or three 20-minute muscle firming exercises times a week as part of Hilton Head Metabolism Diet.
