Non-core foods are given point values and the dieters are allotted 35 non-core points that they can consume in a week.

In the Flex Plan, the dieters receive a specific number of points for consuming on a per day basis depending on their present weight. The points allotted may be increased with exercise. The 'Flex' part of the plan envisages allotting additional points that may or may not be used during the week. These points are not based in weight.

Weight Watchers introduced TurnAround Program in 2004. This program incorporates Points and Core Food plans and is meant to help people in developing a comprehensive healthy lifestyle. It includes healthy food consumption and recommends 8 Good Health Guidelines.
